Boston Celtics Opening Night

The Celtics beat the 76ers in the first game of the season,126-117. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both had 35 points. Malcolm Brogdon had 16 points and Grant Williams finished with 15 points in the win. Even though the 76ers lost,. James Harden scored 35 points with five 3-pointers. Joel Embiid had a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. The 21 year old player Tyreese Maxey finished with 21 points,”,” but lost.

During the third quarter”,” Marcus Smart was arguing with Joel Embiid. It started with Embiid holding onto his arm and then standing over him on a following rebound. After that”,”Smart got up and pushed Embiid, and that led to arguments between the teams. At the time the Celtics coach got fired so it was looking scary for the team losing their coach that brought them to the finals last season. Before the game started, they had a ceremony for honoring Bill Russell’s passing.

I chose this article because it is the Celtics first game of the season this year. The title of the article and the pictures really grabbed my attention, made me want to read it in the first place. The title was in bold and it said “Tatum, Brown each score 35, Celtics beat 76ers 126-117”. Even the writing format and style was really good in the article. What appeals to me in the article is how so much things in the article stand out. There are so many topics on what happened before, during and after the game. The article stated about the coach before the game and the bill russell ceremony before the game. Also, stats for players on both teams throughout the game and what happened at the end of the game and how the players felt about it.

Even though I enjoyed this article, I would have added more details on how the players were feeling or what they were saying before, during”,” and after the game. Especially with the incident that happened between Marcus Smart and Joel Embiid it left a lot of questions, like what did the coaches say about it or the teammates of those players and how did they feel about it. I know Smart was very mad and Embiid said it’s the competitiveness”,”but it didn't say how the other players felt about the situation.
