A Cliche that makes no sense

I chose the football list because I understand it the most. The cliche I dislike the most is, “They’re in four down territory” because it doesn't explain anything. Fourth down can be anywhere on the field so it has to be more specific. And say which team is on fourth down. No one knows anything but fourth down from that cliche.
